“I stayed up all night to get this out to you”*
*and by “you” I mean “nobody.” Putting stuff out like this just relieves my obsessive nature. But still…I think it’s pretty good.

We Can All See the Future If We Try
Tomorrow’s blank slate dissipates into mist
No reins to grasp shadows of what doesn’t exist
Ten years ago I was thinking ‘bout this day
I saw the outrage and anger form from hardened mists
The patterns were there for us as we saw
Chop chop chop at the tree it’s going to fall
Twist the arm and anyone is gonna cry
We can all see the future if we try
We can all see the future if we try
We can all see the future if we try
Fortune teller crystal ball tarot stars portend
Revelations revelation know how the story ends
Entropy in motion decay where it lies
Hope and dedication watch the future rise
High and low the pendulum will always swing
Never know what tomorrow may bring (lol)
Nothing ends where it started by and by
We can all see the future if we try
We can all see the future if we try
We can all see the future if we try
Clear out your biases clear out the lies
Clear the input that clouds your mind’s eyes
Try a little logic try to critically think
Clear out the noise and see how history links
We can all see the future if we try
We can all see the future if we try
Driving down 55 she’s flying out of control
I swear next I’ll see her wrapped around a telephone pole
Now, I don’t know when we started to descend
But I can tell you how this story ends
We can all see the future if we try
We can all see the future if we try
The Headwinds
Born under the umbrella of my warm loving family crew
Encouraged to imagine stories as their little ingenue
Life was an amazing a long enchanted song
Family adventures together and we’d roll along
Dreams come alive - in the cool cool rush of the headwinds
Forever I’ve - been drawn to the endless
Thrill of tall tales and walks along the edges
Here I stride into the cool cool rush of the headwinds
Imagination was real no wild idea incapable
Give me dreamers telling their campfire story fable
Where anything is possible whatever your mind can see
The code of truth, honor, and faith is the air we breathe
Dreams come alive - in the cool cool rush of the headwinds
Forever I’ve - been drawn to the endless
Thrill of tall tales and walks along the edges
Here I stride into the cool cool rush of the headwinds
I was a high school dreamer in love with creators
I met Chickenpox as a kindred wide-eyed dream enabler
Telling the stories of epic tales in the grown up world we assumed
But ‘Pox’s flame which I saw burning bright was slowly relentlessly being consumed
Riding the headwinds left me betrayed and alone on a chilly hill
I’d never let another one of those dreamers take me down with a dead end stone
I met Lunchbox when I was tired of being both young and alone
Maybe I could mold the ‘Box into a hero, like in one of my imagined tales
But the fantasy makes bad choices when reality fails
There was no meanness when it was over, the headwinds called me back to the hill
My next last time the Sly Fox called me out for one more sure bet
And I’d prefer to end this tale happy and at peace walking to the sunset
So sir, this is my story, no need to confess the next sin
Just close your eyes and dream of me, rushing into the headwinds
Dreams come alive - in the cool cool rush of the headwinds
Forever I’ve - been drawn to the endless
Thrill of tall tales and walks along the edges
Here I stride into the cool cool rush of the headwinds
My Daily Five
Five daily cases was what I was tasked
Approve or deny them was all I was asked
What I do followed the same time frame
I was good at what I did and I’d repeat it again
Back in the days of my daily five
Biweekly pay keeping us alive
The times would change the family grow
The weekend went fast the commute was slow
I traded time for a ladder climb
Back in the days of my daily five
Well Doc Parker ran the office and had a plan
Gonna grow this business across this land
I knew it meant red eye flights to and fro
I traded my daily five for the traveling show
Back in the days of my daily five
Rush hour traffic sitting on 95
At 4:59 out the door I’d go
I’m listening to drive time radio
I forget it all, except that long drive
Back in the days of my daily five
It was around a time of great stress
I’m gonna spend this night in LAX
I did the math and realized
If I was still back home I’d be finishing five
I knew then without saying a word
Despite the stress this was the life I preferred
It’s been years, my 9 to 5 is an ancient note
My life of hotels is now a life of remote
I think about when I changed I came alive
When I gave up the comfort of the daily five
Back in the days of my daily five
Biweekly pay keeping us alive
The times would change the family grow
The weekend went fast the commute was slow
I traded time for a ladder climb
Back in the days of my daily five
Slow-Mo(mentum)
I’m pounding pavement on the sucker’s soul dole
Used to bind my hands and toss me down the rathole
Now when I’m not working I put faith in love trust
You play the long game when the present goes bust
Now I keep my pencil sharp and my powder dry
Waiting for that next train to roll on by
Slow momentum, steady as you go
Slow momentum, keep the tempo
Nervous agitation to the clock on the wall
Every tick tick tick was a hammer to the skull
If you weren’t running you were falling behind
Slow traffic fast lane drives me out of my mind
I needed calibration or be dead as a rock
Educated from many trips around the block
I learned to play the long game trust it comes my way
Get closer tomorrow than you were yesterday
Now I keep my pencil sharp and my powder dry
Waiting for the next train to roll on by
Slow momentum, steady as you go
Slow momentum, keep the tempo
The day I met her I knew she’d be my bride
We were slow on the trigger and time we’d abide
Taking little steps forward and don’t let it slide
That worked for me perfectly now I’m slow amplified
You play the long game but gather no rust
I put my faith into love and trust
Slow momentum, steady as you go
Slow momentum, keep the tempo
Your Will or Mine
I would sit by your side
With a rope our arms tied
To make sure, no matter how hard you tried
I could keep you alive (keep you alive)
Your will or mine
It’s only a matter of time
A moment you find
Your will or mine (your will or mine)
I would watch you day and night
Never let you out of sight
Impel my will no matter how hard you tried
If I could keep you alive
Your will or mine
Illusioned peace of mind
Until that moment you find
Your will or mine (your will or mine)
You gave up completely
You asked me why I can’t let you die
There’s no solution in thinking I
Could just settle for goodbye
Your will or mine (or mine)
A crazy kid on a crazy hillside
Running to and fro, keeping everyone alive
To save the day he’ll try and try
But sooner or later one will get by
Your will or mine
Your will or mine
It’s a battle of time
Illusioned peace of mind
Your will or mine (your will or mine)
Which will be done..
Walk You Home
What’s waiting at home? Let’s review…
Laundry, leftovers, assignments due
So, out the door down the street I’ll roam
For the chance to see her walking home
Can I see her? Can I see her?
Walking alone with the blue windbreaker
Yea I see her, Yea I see her
Gotta play it cool cause my heart is racing
And if I see you there all alone
Could I walk you home?
Scattered and gathered together and strewn
We slow roll through the afternoon
You with your friends I’m with mine
Furtive glances across that borderline
Shy guy the time goes racing by
Break away if you aren’t even gonna try
She’s got me twisted where I can’t cope
Run from my wreckage to a walk of hope
And if I see you there all alone
Could I walk you home?
Could I walk you home?
What’s waiting at home? Let’s review…
Laundry, leftovers, assignments due
So, out the door down the street I’ll roam
For the chance to see her walking home
Can I see her? Can I see her?
Walking alone with the baggy blue windbreaker
Yea I see her, Yea I see her!
Gotta play it cool but my heart is racing
And if I see you there all alone
Could I walk you home?
Love and Death
Cold sweat and hot regret
Sleep brought back what I want to forget
The moon and the fan are on a night crawl
Casting dancing shadows on my wall
Loved ones who have passed
Unspoken words are shadows cast
Ain’t a damn thing I can do right now
I’ll lay here til it passes me somehow
It’s 3:25 AM
And I’m wide awake
Love and death
In the bed you make
Why do the things we can’t forget
Demand a payment for their debt?
Push ‘em down all day long
I go along to get along
I traded time for some cash
An empty thrill that doesn’t last
If an old guy like me dies in bed
Don’t need an exam, just bury me dead
It’s 3:25 AM
And I’m wide awake
Love and death
In the bed you make
Kids now, add another cold fear
Love so pure, makes my time more dear
Fragile and tough, my love fears their fall
And I hope they long outlive me
Another shadow on the wall
I’m spinning, spinning, haze and shade
Love and death, I start to fade
And truth I slept all night through
Silly dreaming and all - but it was you
You kept a lock on your feelings
Who knew you stared at the ceiling?
You were the one thing I never worried about
So close but I never knew your fear and doubt
The night comes and crushes the day
Never knew you’d slip away…
It’s 3:25 AM
And I’m wide awake
Love and death
In the bed you make
Lonliphobia
Old man sitting in the old man chair
Reminders all around ghosts are everywhere
And the only sound comes from the TV
He’s all alone with Cyd Charisse and Gene Kelly
This used to be the center buzz of his life hive
The young moved out the old aren’t alive
Peek in to a future we don’t want to see
Chills abound that old man is me
Lone-Lone-Lonely-Lonliphobia
Lone-Lone-Lone-Lone-Lonliphobia
Yea, not where you want to be but here we are
Lonliphobia
Grew up in a house full of activity
Friends popped by extended the family
Sometimes I’d wish I could take a broom
Yea, just clear out all of this hustle and hide in my room
We live a life where the kids move on
Family scattered through a dozen towns
Friends are gone or no longer can drive
So this is your prize for being the last alive
Lone-Lone-Lone-Lonliphobia
Lone-Lone-Lonliphobia
Didn’t think you’d make it this far but here you are
Lonliphobia
Lone-Lone-Lonliphobia
Lone-Lone-Lonely-Lonliphobia
This house was a constant noise wave
Now every noise echoes in the cave
Lonliphobia
Delco Girls
She’s Widener wild in the evening
‘Nova snob in the day
DC-cubed at a party
Cabrini on Sunday
Delco Girls - Rocking and a rolling
Delco Girls - Take your breath away
Heart of gold - edge of steel
Drives her stiletto through your Achilles heel
Delco Girls - Rocking and a rolling
Delco Girls - Never change!
Worked in Clifton Heights with a Delco dirty blonde
Known to all of us as “Eddystone” Elaine
Wawa bag had her food for her break
Walking from the bus stop in the misty rain
Suede boots and a breezy checkered top
Tight jeans with a stubborn stain
She’s got a boyfriend who works on the docks
She’s got Jesus on a chain
She’s Darby when she’s challenged
Broomall when she’s feeling shy
Springfield meets your parents
She got her ink in Upper Chi
Delco Girls - Rocking and a rolling
Delco Girls - Take your breath away
Heart of gold - edge of steel
Drives her stiletto through your Achilles heel
Delco Girls - Rocking and a rolling
Delco Girls - Never change!
We sat outside the Putt Putt
A quick break on Baltimore Pike
She was talking about crappy guys
It was all very brotherly-like
I remember she made me laugh
A funny spin on doom and gloom
I remember a drunk on the back nine
Suggested we get a room
She’s a Picnic in Brandywine
A summer band in Rose Tree
A late night drink parked in Tinicum
She’s a morning walk in Ridley
Delco Girls - Rocking and a rolling
Delco Girls - Take your heart away
Heart of gold - edge of steel
Drives her stiletto through your Achilles heel
Delco Girls - Rocking and a rolling
Delco Girls - Never change!
Well you never know what happens to
A smart tough girl like Elaine
She may have stayed in her hometown
And a dock worker wife she remains
Maybe she caught the spark in her eye
Her mirror made her wanting more
I’d like to think she’s got a name plate
And a house out in Radnor
Delco Girls - Rocking and a rolling
Delco Girls - Take your breath away
Heart of gold - edge of steel
Drives her stiletto through your Achilles heel
Delco Girls - Rocking and a rolling
Delco Girls - Never change
Delco Girls…
Legend of Younger You
All those dreams and wonders you brought to me
I dragged them along like a dangling fantasy
I used fear as principle that should have been your first clue
I was not the legend who makes daydreams come true
I wish I had a better handle on honesty
I’d have told you
Younger you should stay away from younger me
Younger you should stay away from younger me
We’re born to run not knowing a race has begun
Taking easy laps on the front end of the long run
There’s a line separating me and the legends of myth
They didn’t fear taking a chance on their gift
I wish I could have better handled honesty
‘Cause I’d have told you
Younger you should stay away from younger me
Younger you should stay away from younger me
Don’t waste your time
Because your time is your life
Don’t waste your life
Your life is your time
Lean in close here…lean in closer
You’ll never save me, or change me, or get me
Just run away
The Lord provided younger me with a muse
Just like time it’s something you either use or lose
Bat ‘em around like a playful ball of string
Legends know not to waste precious things
I know now the legend wasn’t me
‘Cause he would have told you
Younger you should stay away from younger me
The Man Who Struck Moonshine
Moses and his Guardian Angel passed the Soledad Crossing span
Tonight he’d meet Creatris and make his intrepid demand
To sip from her reliquary intrigue had come to obsessed
He had two drinks for courage and he made his request
Creatris saw his swagger tall he commanded the ring
Strays will obey and birds would stop to hear Moses sing
But when she began crying he was frozen mouth to limb
The devil hid in his third sip and his senses began to swim
What kind of love
Drains the blood
Until you’re weakened and you fall
What kind of love
A chaser of blood
Mixing tears and alcohol (tears and alcohol)
Moses trashed, a stumbling minstrel, his quest gone wrong
Your weakness is in that third sip she used tears to bring it along
They mocked him, men laughed and women called out his name
They danced around the reliquary, he cried tears of shame
What kind of love
Drains the blood
Until you’re weakened and you fall
What kind of love
A chaser of blood
Mixing tears and alcohol (tears and alcohol)
Lost in a fog he smashed the reliquary to the floor
Creatris fell to her knees, revelers called for war
Midnight call went out Moses will pay for this roustabout
Pitchforks in the street…moonlight trial…shackles on his feet
Maybe we can just watch his soul die!
Maybe we can just watch his soul die!
Moses dragged in, eyes open but he didn’t see
It’s a story as old as an apple and a tree
The hanging jury took in the testimony of all that occurred
But their mood changed, for one question there was no word
Why didn’t y’all just put him to bed?
Why didn’t y’all just put him to bed?
Moses needed friends not strangers to protect and save his day
His Guardian Angel closed her eyes and slunk away
Villagers still angry and tasted blood they disapprove
Judge ruled a sevenfold mark that he can’t ever remove
Justice and mercy and his soul be cast!
Justice and mercy and his soul be cast
Moses eyes came alive as he shook the fog loose
Through it all he had neither memory nor excuse
He said tears and alcohol brought many a quest to an end
But I’m the only one to blame and for this I’ll make amend
Now take these shackles off of me and let me face the dawn
Daytime sentries will care for me after you night criers have gone
What kind of love
Drains the blood
Until you’re weakened and you fall
What kind of love
A chaser of blood
Mixing tears and alcohol (tears and alcohol)
But the blaze of dawn comes reason…
And the fears of the night are soothed…
In the morning I was a hungry stranger…
And strangers came and gave me food
Reconciliation (So Much Wasted Time)
Worried about the gone past and re-confessing every sin
Most of the day gets dragged away with the ‘woulda coulda’ been
Worry over your time left for saving and what’s been mis-spent
One day you’ll lay with your dying breath wondering where it all went
So much wasted time
So much wasted time
God sent me word
Be present is all He said
Tomorrow is in my hands
Yesterday is forgiven
The present is all you're given
Don’t waste your time
Don’t waste your time
Worry about tomorrow and all the best steps to proceed
Worry about all the things where none of it is guaranteed
I bet you’ll pass someone today in the need of a helping hand
The fool rushes by ‘cause the fool doesn’t understand
So much wasted time
So much wasted time
God sent me word
Be present is all He said
Tomorrow is in my hands
Yesterday is forgiven
The present is all you're given
Don’t waste your time
Don’t waste your time
Tonight we dance the dance we bury all the past
Forgiven and forgotten like the shadows that we cast
Honor, love, and faith in whatever comes your way
Be present for the mercy, you can receive and display
So much wasted time
So much wasted time
God sent me word
Be present is all He said
Tomorrow is in my hands
Yesterday is forgiven
The present is all you're given
Don’t waste your time
Don’t waste your time
