Happily Ever Afternoon

happeveerafter BACK.jpg

This was a quick one. Writing began at the same time, and in a matter of weeks these 8 songs remained from many ideas.

1- Siena 4:28
I was behind the counter and you over by skeeball

We butt heads as our lives were in free fall

We clashed we thrashed until no beauty remained

It was over and I hoped to never see you again

We don’t control the things we call coincidence

Because there’s no such thing as coincidence

I was minding my own hanging all alone

You on the phone over by the Cherrystone

Glowing in the cute-meet honeymoon

We floated into our happily ever afternoon

Siena It's now the end of our start

Siena I wish that we could skip this next part

I can see the future, the end of a wasted night

We are tired and scared and we start to pick a fight

I can see that future when the volcano blow

Ready aim love shot down in the torpedo

Siena It's now the end of our start

Siena I wish that we could skip this next part

Cause we move on forward a long time from here

You on the porch and me nursing a beer

We laugh at the struggles without regret

The good we remember the bad we forget

The middle part fights nearly spelled our doom

Just a silly footnote on our happily ever afternoon

Happily ever afternoon

Siena It's now the end of our start

Siena I wish that we could skip this next part

2- What Makes A Good Man Better 2:28

What makes a good man better

Is there anything he can do

Get ahead in the rough and tumble

Start dinner in the afternoon

Rides to sunset wipes a tear

Lets you know he’s feeling blue

There when you need him / There when he needs you

Shows up for showdowns at high noon

What makes a good man better

Is there anything he can do

Get ahead in the rough and tumble

Change a diaper in the afternoon

Strong and silent loud and in charge

Takes a step back and can follow too

Is it any wonder we’re all screwed

A better man does whatever you want him to

What makes a good man better

Is there anything he can do

Get ahead in the rough and tumble

Start cooking in the afternoon

They say a good man is hard to find

Measured by the world he leaves behind

Better man leaves behind a better world

Try to be a good man that’s better defined

What makes a good man better

Is there anything I can do

Just face the day and try to be a good man

That alone will make a better you

Oh and this too…

Love makes a good man better

3- History's Whatever 3:12

History’s whatever those who write the history book

Randi you don’t get to be

The one who writes the history

You’ve held a grudge for 10 years past

Get that bug out of your ass

Great stories from your momma’s past

Spanish airman dalliance

So young and in love

Let’s run away to California

History’s whatever those who write the history book

Randi you can hold a grudge

But I’m the one who gets to write this song

The ladies back home didn’t agree

There’s only one way this will be

In a miner's town she would stay

Right on through to her dying day

History’s whatever those who write the history book

Randi we should both agree

Let the past remain in history

Save the family from your attack

Once they die they ain’t ever coming back

Randi you can hold a grudge

But I’m the one who gets to write the song

History’s whatever those who write the history book

4- Schrödinger’s Cat 3:56

She explained to me it’s a scientific theory

A thought experiment to spur curiosity

The cat’s in the box and we don’t know

It’s both dead and alive

I wholeheartedly agreed politely

Sorry if its not revelatory

To be both dead and alive

To be both dead and alive

Have you ever been

Betrayed by a friend

I take comfort in my sense of loyalty

I was right to expect the same for me

I was wrong to put down my defense

Both right and wrong seemed to make sense

To be both right and be wrong

To be both right and be wrong

Have you ever been

Betrayed by a friend

Get out of the box and be free

Face the day as it comes to me

Forgiveness is my theology

Forgetting is not my psychology

To be both dead and alive

To be both dead and alive

Have you ever been

Betrayed by a friend

5- Missalette 2:59

Roamin’ through the streets it’s a tragedy

Every last sign blasting out at me

Is there something that you need

Everybody wants to play the lead

Let me know you

I have love I but we have a problem

We told a story and a sequel too

So many words and I can’t keep working

Baby, let’s cut out a page or two

Let me know you

There’s a place we want to get

But we ain’t there yet

This is my all-in bet

On my little Missalette

Let me know you

I ain’t the sharpest tool in the whole China set

You wanted a surgeon but you settle for a vet

It’s a lesson you’ll remember from the guy you won’t forget

Good love can be made better yet

Let’s run into the wind and live with a net

So happy so happy, me and my little Missalette

Let me know you

There’s a place we want to get

But we ain’t there yet

This is my all-in bet

On my little Missalette

Let me know you

It’s a lesson you’ll remember from the guy you won’t forget

So happy so happy, me and my little Missalette

Let me know you

.

6- Get In with the In-Crowd 3:23

Get Rich - and you’ll have no problems

Get Rich - advice when you were young

Get Rich - the world’s your playground

Get Rich - and your worries are gone

So you can run

And you can hide

Wealthy can stay inside

The In-crowd

Get in with the In-crowd

Get Rich - hey, you went and did it

Get Rich - happy days for you

Get Rich - that gated house

Get Rich - has quite the view

You can't run and you can’t hide

Still aren’t inside

The In-crowd

Get in with the In-crowd

The In-crowd

Gotta get in with the In-crowd

The in-crowd circles their wagons

The in-crowd protect their own

Takes more than money to get in

The in-crowd wants to know what you'll do in return

Get Rich - but you can lose your money

All gone while you’re sitting in court

Get Rich - you got no friends downtown

Get Rich - but you need some support

You can’t run and you can't hide

Cause you’re only safe inside

The in crowd

Get in with the in crowd

The in crowd

Get in with the in crowd

The process is the punishment

And they never go away

The in crowd protects its own

Connected beats rich every day

You ain’t safe until you’re in with the in crowd

Get in with the in crowd

7- Social Evolutionaries 2:30

When the media went social and even grandma got online

Started liking and following and it was a grand ol' time

And everybody put up a facade to everyone they could reach

Climbing every mountain and a smile on every beach

And time goes by and time goes by and things always change

Cause that what things do

And those happy little lives with the happy kids and wives

Every day was Disney every night French wine

Soon that had no virtue soon that was seen as a pose

You were a self centered narcissist buying fancy clothes

And the smiling face would be replaced

Anger was embraced

Cause that’s what people do

See my little girl holding up a protest sign

Here I am at a rally locked up doing time

Look at me can’t you see all the things that I’m denying

Cause someone somewhere i’m saving them from crying

And the echo is deafening from all my like minded kin

There’s more cred from suffering

Cos thats how social media evolves

And we were easily ignoring

But you’re increasingly annoying

But you’re easily side-stepped so we can get things done

If you can take a break from yelling

Then I will be telling, ya

Your only cause is self-serving

And your arguments are dumb

Evolution can be devolution history provides a preview

50’s to 60’s. 80’s to 90’s. Just to name two

When we start to feel good / soon there’s a shift in the game

Then all that was celebrated is now considered shame

And we were easily ignoring

But you’re increasingly annoying

But you’re easily side-stepped so we can get things done

If you can take a break from yelling

Then I will be telling, ya

Your only cause is self-serving

And your arguments are dumb

8- Soulmate 3:48

Getting ready for bed or so I’m trying

Pain creep in I think I’m dying

Life flash through those final scenes

And every last one since seventeen

It’s you and me not so easy to see

What is there in front of me

I’m feeling bad but not really dying

And you ask me why I’m smiling

Flash back to that time when

You and me and all over again

From first date to soulmate

From sacred vow to here and now

You can still kickstart my heart rate

I’m sleeping with my soulmate

Never hit on any get-rich quick scheme

My house and car don’t come from a dream

The jury’s out if I’m heaven bound

But here with you I’m safe and sound

It’s you and me so easily to see

What’s standing there in front of me

From first date to soulmate

From sacred vow to here and now

You can still kickstart my heart rate

I’m sleeping with my soulmate

I like to hide in a world all my own

Looking back I’ve never felt alone

You can stay together empty handed

With a soul you take for granted

It’s you and me so easy to see

What is there in front of me

You ask me why I’m smiling

I can't explain why I’m smiling

Words all fail my throat is dry

Guess I’m just some lucky guy

From first date to soulmate

From sacred vow to here and now

You can still kickstart my heart rate

I’m sleeping with my soulmate
