Lyrics

ARCADE

Well step on back for the pinball wizards

They cut through this crowd like sharpened scissors

They seek the dark back where they can hide like lizards

And they can focus on a serious game

The instant photo booth is kept up front

For the perfect four poses all the girls want

The boys eyeing em like on a fox hunt

Hanging around outside the curtain frame

Everybody’s got a special thrill that sets them off

Everyone’s looking for that big payoff

And you can find your perfect shade

In the arcade

Jump back here comes a couple they must be tourist

They’re In their own world they’re going to ignore us

They feed the machine their cash which is as porous

As that teddy bear slipping through the metal claw

Skeeball is like our county fair

Some lay wagers some don’t care

Some break a sweat some only stare

That’s skeeball

Payouts are flowing

Pop music rolling

Games are going

Everyone’s got a thrill to set them off

And you can find your perfect shade

In the arcade

The spinning prize wheel catch the eye of passerby’s

Girls push their guys burning cash through many tries

Looking to beat the science and the odds

When their number hits it’s the heroes bliss

She yells a little he gets a kiss

The losers only curse and hiss

They play again while shaking a fist

Up to the bad luck gods

Ladies playing poker to wins some pots and pans

Here everyone comes in with a dream and plan

Find your perfect shade

In the arcade

Where’s your favorite spot

When the moment is all you got

Find your perfect shade

In the Arcade

MELODY BY THE SEA

Lo-oh-co crazy

There’s a tiki bar called By The Sea

Ten cent drafts and girls get in free

We make it a stop on bar band nights

Turn it on until they turn out the lights

And there’s a couple types of girls at By The Sea

Some wear a sign saying “Don’t bother me”

And some seem as friendly as can be

Then disappear real quietly

My types well that’s one I never see

I’m just looking for a girl who’s crazy like me

Lo-oh-co crazy

Lo-oh-co crazy

I can see Melody was following me

Melody By The Sea

In the bar mirror I see she’s looking at me

Guys can get distracted so easily

An old Stone song move me to the pit

She jumped on my back and rode me a bit

Lo-oh-co crazy

Lo-oh-co crazy

This stuff only happens By The Sea

I met a girl as crazy as me

Lo-oh-co crazy

Lo-oh-co crazy

Melody By The Sea

I met a girl as crazy as me

We kept playing hide and seek

She flashed the band and kissed my cheek

We did shots at the bar but when we clapped off beat

That’s when they tossed us to the street

ALL NIGHTER

After the souls of complication are gone

All night - All nighter

We will make it if we make it to dawn

In an in between state

Not quite asleep or awake

A cold sweat vision raced through my heart

If we could stay up all night

Make it to the break of light

Then nothing could ever break us apart

All night - All nighter

We will make it if we make it to dawn

Something would appear in our eyes

Something from that shared sunrise

We’d connect in the light of a new day

This is the test all loves must pass

Share the last grain in the hourglass

It’s a love that will always stay

All night - All nighter

We will make it if we make it to dawn

I give you a gentle shake

We gotta gotta stay awake

For reasons I can’t quite explain

You smile though the reason’s weak

It’s a nice night no need to speak

Let’s stargaze til the sun rises again

After the souls of complication are gone

All night - All nighter

We will make it if we make it to dawn

FOUR YEAR THING

Here comes another four year thing

Just like the other four year thing

So quickly then it’s done

In 4-3-2-1

Year one you never hit the ground running

No matter how hard you try

It hits back and then you’re spinning sink or swim Do or Die

Well you say you’ll do better

Overcome the nasty weather

Next time you’ll know what to do

The second was as bad as the first one you had

Now year three is staring at you

Here comes another four year thing

Just like the other four year thing

So quickly then it’s done

In 4-3-2-1

Year three can be fine but the time it starts to fly

And you can see you’re nearing the end

Four should be fun but you know your time will come

And you gotta start it all over again

Here comes another four year thing

Just like the other four year thing

So quickly then it’s done

In 4-3-2-1

SAXER AVENUE

John Saxer written ever in history

John Saxer had an avenue named after he

The frontier land began a stone’s throw from City Hall

Ben Franklin hunted game in Delco in the fall

John Saxer, son of a man of old world pride

The Wanamakers introduced him to his bride

John Saxer knew one day he’d be on the Western Trail

and down the Pacific Ocean he would sail

He prepared for his trip a stone's throw from City Line

From his modest ranch in the Springfield pines

John Saxer written ever in history

John Saxer had an avenue named after he

The weather would turn and send a year into the wind

There were no thoughts of leaving when the fever came in

Lost a son and daughter and some next of kin

He was forever heading out next spring

Never could stop what the winter would bring

John Saxer Found himself here every fall

Lived to get mail from a grandson in Utah

He was an elder statesman of the town

Springfield’s treasure of a great local renown

John Saxer died and as thing tend to do

They named his family’s road Saxer Avenue

John Saxer the road will always do what it does

John Saxer his road ends where his heart always was

John Saxer written ever in history

John Saxer had an avenue named after he

I grew up in a Springfield subdivision waved a flag at the Bicentennial parade

From central school I bought baseball cards on Saxer’s business promenade

Got married at the church at Saxer’s northern end

Moved out of Springfield and never went back again

CAMPGROUNDS OF AMERICA

The Quiet Man is driving and daydreaming of Elsa

Meeting her in college she pirouettes into the dining hall

Everything changed after turned a page on his history

From that youthful chaos - he sees how the pieces would fall

And as I watched the miles roll across the land

6th grade  summer vacation in the back of a van

Gonna see America

Campgrounds of America

Ten dollars a night all amenities

Gonna see America

Campgrounds of America

Freedom, the road, and family

City kids of the depression travel like packs in the city streets

Spend a lot of time on their own and running from the city heat

Upstate coal country a kid could just go fishing all day

Served his country overseas and thought that was where he’d stay

I see Rushmore and Yellowstone and Custer’s Last Stand

The Gateway Arch and we're back in Pennsylvania again

Gonna see America

Campgrounds of America

Ten dollars a night all amenities

Gonna see America

Campgrounds of America

Freedom, the road, and family

The hours were rotten

The old life forgotten

This was all that mattered now

I look at the driver and I don't understand

What’s the backstory for the Quiet Man

Gonna see America

Campgrounds of America

Ten dollars a night all amenities

Gonna see America

Campgrounds of America

Freedom, the road, and family

RAINY DAY MATINEE

Broken hearted noon boardwalk it’s been raining all day

Meant to meet a girl the clouds musta chased her away

Ocean Theater marquee is changing, what does it say?

James Bond for half price; it’s a rainy day matinee

Rainy day matinee

Gray skies - it’s movie time

Rainy day matinee

We Met yesterday we had a date for fun and sun

She heads home tomorrow and her summer is done

When I woke this morning the sky was filled with rain

I’m alone bought a ticket for Never Say Never Again

Rainy day matinee

Grey skies - it’s movie time

Rainy day matinee

Found it hard to keep attention on Sean Connery

It’s just fine and I wander out to the lobby

Itching for popcorn when who do I see in line

She takes the seat next to me

And this is oh so much more than fine

As the end credits rolled the rain continued to pour

They offered a double feature, one with Roger Moore

We were holding hands and it was now after five

Heard a BOOM, and no lights, thankful to be alive

The storm took the power and flooded the streets

We’re high and dry they said just stay in your seats

And we talked and talked and I admit we shared a kiss

May every rainy day find a perfect moment of bliss

Rainy day matinee

Gray skies - it’s movie time

Rainy day matinee

All the best movies are dreams

KISS + SMILE

Kiss Kiss - Smile Smile

See you baby in a while

Kiss kiss -smile smile

I’ll see you baby in awhile

Funny how life can sometimes be so unkind

We find each other but then can’t find the time

You work in the day - I work in the night

Evening we have a passing sight

Kiss Kiss - Smile Smile

See you baby in a while

Kiss kiss -smile smile

I’ll see you baby in awhile

Our kiss and smile don’t last long

It goes by faster than this song

A little is better than pure denial

I wouldn’t trade in our kiss and smile

24 HOUR BEACH DAY

I’ve got sun I’ve got shades

I’ve got sand I’ve got shades

24 hour beach day - 24 hour beach day

Stagger out at the break of day

don’t want to miss one ray ray

I got a double barrel boom box ready to blast

Got a subwoofer that’ll shake your ass

Got sand got shades

I got sand I got shades

Afternoon in the shadows getting long

Afternoon shadows getting long

The sun starts to fade but we’re still going strong

Head on back take a dip in the pool

Gonna clean up nice gotta be looking cool

I got style I got shades

I got style I got shades

Got to keep it going we’re only halfway through

24 hour beach day 24 hour beach day

Sun goes down here at the carnival sound

Coast line is rockin it’s party time

Boardwalk is packed were walking fall in line

I got moves I got shades

I got style I got shades

Somewhere past midnight and we take it to the house

Yea, past midnight and we take it inside house

Party rocking on the coast side

The patio looks down Ocean Drive

Well it’s 5 AM and it’s time to move

Down to the beach for the final groove

Watch the sun rise over this land

Dig my toes into the sand to

24 hour beach day

SUNBURN

Every road draws a wind to the coastline

Strike attention poses in the sunshine

I can trust myself to get out of the sun

Slag foot drag down don’t know when Im done

Sunburn third degree

It’s an unshaken reality

One burns two two burn three

It’s a lesson we all learn

Zero sum sunburn

Picked a spot to lie under the sun

I can tune out until I’m done

I bring cold chicken diplomacy

A sleight of hand so you don’t see

Sunburn third degree

One burns two two burn three

Tan line symmetry

It’s a lesson we all learn

Zero sum sunburn

How did you get so tan so fast

Did we cross each other in the tall grass

If I’m wrong it can’t just be me

It takes two to tangle up a misery

I got sunburn third degree

I accuse you of being just like me

Sunburn third degree

I accuse you, I accuse you

I’ll pass the blame all the way around

I’ll burn this whole thing to the ground

I accuse you, I accuse you

I accuse you, I accuse you

Sunburn

WILDWOOD

Wildwood

Well hey little girl I hope you had a really good senior yeat

But summer’s coming round and the coast is getting clear

Meet me on down, Meet me on down

All the kids in the neighborhood

Going on down to Wildwood

To hell with this town we know what’s good

Meet me on down Wildwood

Well hey everybody its roll call time for this beach road trip

Slim and Willy fired up the rocket ship

Melk and Frosty loaded up for the drive

Gabe and Bran broke down and hitching on 55

Meet me on down

The carnival never lets you go

Wide eyed wonder of vertigo

The years roll by

The ties unwind

You can never go back

You can never go back

Well hey now my love we’ve been working hard all year

The kids are growing restless and the coast is getting clear

All year we’ve been saving and being good

Flashback and be my girl again in Wildwood

Meet me on down

Everybody in the neighborhood

Heading on down to Wildwood

To hell with the rules we know what’s good

Meet me on down in Wildwood

(WHATCHA GONNA DO ABOUT) YOUR CRUSH

Pure love whispered in your ear

You can miss what you don’t want to hear

There’s someone you can’t stop thinking about

You keep wearing your heart inside out

When what you’ve always done don’t amount to much

Whatcha gonna do about your crush

You have a life you won’t rearrange

A routine you don’t want to change

Damn dirty secret you don’t want to tell

You wait for someone to break the spell

When there’s no meaning there’s no rush

Whatcha gonna do about your crush

Somewhere got to be a savior

Your crush waits for you today

Your crush never really goes away

Somewhere the crush looks after you

Open your heart is what you can do

Consider this your much needed push

Now whatcha gonna do about your crush

Somewhere got to be a savior
